1975 FORD FALCON XB JOHN GOSS SPECIAL HARDTOP – AUTO- ONE OWNER – ADELAIDE DELIVERY

Delivered to it’s owner by Maughan Thiem Ford of Cheltenham Adelaide on the 20th of November 1975.

It still wears it’s original number plates, SFK 182. We also hold the original hand book showing all these details.

The first service was completed by Maughan Thiem on the 14th of January 1976 at 1473kms, after that the owner kept the most amazing log of everything he has ever spent on the car including every litre of fuel and all subsequent maintenance and repairs, costs and dates.

Presenting in Apollo Blue over Polar White with off white interior trim.

John Goss became famous racing with Kevin Bartlett around Mount Panorama at Bathurst in the 1970’s.

Alongside “KB” (Kevin Bartlett), he won the James Hardie 1000 at Mount Panorama in 1974 in a very close race, and in August, 1975 Ford released a run of XB based John Goss Special limited edition hardtops.

The regular production options which were offered on the limited-run model (400 units) were 302 V8 engine, sports console, carpets, 185 SR14 steel belt radials, sports handling suspension and rally instrument pack. There were, as mentioned, only two paint options available plus a fair smattering of stripes and decals to jazz it up. The bumpers were painted, as per Falcon GT, and the wheels were rally pack-type.

Powered by a 5.0 Litre (302ci) V8 engine, it produced when new 179Kw and 409Nm of power and torque, delivered to the rear wheels via a 3 speed automatic transmission. Performance figures for this model are hard to find, but it was considered a high performance model in it’s era and still is today.

This unique one family owner vehicle is offered by the family and their words are worth reading:-

” An introduction to a very special car.

Special in name – as in John Goss

Special in history – as in Bathurst

Special in rarity – as in a genuine one family owner from new vehicle

But sadly – circumstances change down the roads of life and we all must move forward.

So now is the time for this beautiful and lovingly cared for motoring masterpiece of Australian automobile heritage to be proudly hung
in the shed of it’s next enthusiastic owner.

Hi – My name is Frank and I was just 15 years old when together with my late father on an early Sunday morning way back in 1975 while
driving past Maughan Thiem Motors on Port Road Cheltenham, we were stopped in our tracks by a vision that was to become a part of
our families destiny for the next 47 years.

This four wheel marvel sat there very majestically surrounded by an aura that no other vehicle in the yard could match. An aura that
shines bigger and brighter with each passing year.

It’s a very “SPECIAL” experience to own and drive this particular vehicle – I am now 62 years of age and I still get a “buzz” out of being
behind the wheel – just as I did when I was a 15 year old – and you can too with the purchase of this very rare – very popular – eye
catching Aussie muscle machine.

As you can imagine – the depth and the personal history of this John Goss Special within my family could fill a book – these memories
are etched in my mind forever – just as it can with you as the new proud owner – the start of a new beginning.

Don’t be bored – Drive a Ford ”
