These amazing cars were originally designed by Lola in the UK with the specific purpose of beating Ferraris at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. If you haven't seen the film "Ford verses Ferrari", it is well worth a view.

A fabulous design that is timeless and looks just as terrific today as it did in the 60's when Henry Ford came up with the project. Basically, the design criteria was to be only 40" high , be a mid engine V8 design with a very low coefficient of drag.

This highly efficient design was also very effective in achieving Henry Ford's wish to beat Ferrari at Le Mans, a thing Ford did several years in a row, before Porsche released the 917. A real Ford GT40 is not only very rare, but hugely expensive, if you can find one for sale. Here is a beautiful recreation in black at a fraction of the cost.

The kit was a Roaring Forties build purchased by the owner in 2005 and he finished it and first registered the car in 2011.

The engine is a Ford Boss 290 5.4 Litre supercharged and delivers the power to the rear wheels via a 6 speed Audi gearbox with a locker differential. The oil pump has been replaced with a Billet Pump, it also has a custom twin throttle body plenum chamber (for looks, only one throttle operating, but may be able to be operated with a different ECU), currently featuring an SCT Flashtune programmer. We hold a dyno report on the engine which suggests near 300Kw at the rear wheels, however performance figures not known, but would be quick. We also hold a report from Tonkin Engineering, a well known and approved South Australian Automotive Engineering firm, attesting to the car's suitability for road use.

Engine cooling is by an electronically controlled Thermatic water pump and fans, (there is no impeller in the engine or thermostat in the system).

Crossover ceramic coated exhaust features stainless steel mufflers with internal cat converters.

Suspension is fully adjustable Koni shock absorbers with matching with AP brakes - 6 spot front callipers and 4 spot rears. Wheels are replica centre hub BRMs. The car has a detachable front splitter and an extra roll bar has been installed.

Interior of car is looks very period correct with the vented race seats, all the important instruments on the dash and the gear lever in your right hand.

This car is offered with a brand new pair of Willans race harnesses, spare door windows, front lamp covers, rear cabin glass and the construction manual.

Well worth a visit to our state of the art showroom floor in Adelaide to see this car in the flesh.
