The following story gives you a clear background into the existence of this vehicle:
A remarkably preserved HSV VL Commodore SS Group A “Walkinshaw”. Chassis #082 with delivery mileage, and accompanied by an extensive and well-documented history from new.
Original specifications show a 4.9 Litre fuel injected V8 engine, producing 180Kw and 380nm of power and torque, delivered to the rear wheels via a 5 speed manual gearbox. Performance figures suggested at the time of release, 0-100kph in 6.5 secs and a top speed near 230kph.
-The History:
Chassis 082 left the Holden factory on 14 April 1988 to HSV to be transformed into a SV Group A SS, and completed (and stamped) July 11th, 1988. This particular chassis was allocated to Charlie McCarron’s Canowindra Motors, a well-established country Holden and HSV dealership in rural NSW. This dealership later became a museum, before sadly closing in 2016.
Chassis 082 remained amongst a collection of cars at Canowindra Motors unwrapped, before being discovered by its eventual first owner.
The current owner worked for Bridgestone throughout the 1980s and 1990s, and specifically wanted a Walkinshaw, recognising its significance from the outset.
Through these connections, he became aware of this particular Walkinshaw sitting unsold at Canowindra Motors. A handwritten note recording his name, the dealership and their telephone number has been retained.
He travelled from South Australia to NSW with a trailer to personally collect the car and bring it home, where it has been ever since

This provides an unusually comprehensive paper trail from the car’s initial delivery through to its first (and only) private owner.
How the Car Has Been Preserved:
The Walkinshaw was essentially placed into long-term storage from new.
The side skirts and other external components were never fitted by the dealership, keeping it as new (ready to be delivered). As the car was collected directly from the dealership by trailer, these parts remained unwrapped and never fitted, to minimise the risk of any damage while loading/unloading
All internal covers and wraps remained too, keeping the interior in pristine condition and as new
Apart from a new battery (original still in possession), every part is original, down to the Bridgestone Tyres (stamp date verified)
During the early years of ownership, the car was occasionally started and idled to temperature.
It was subsequently preserved by periodically turning the engine over by hand, keeping the internal components moving without regularly running the engine.
The original fuel system remains in place, including the fuel lines, injectors and fuel pumps.
Some fresh fuel was recently added to recommission the car.
The car starts, runs and idles, with video documentation available.

The car was displayed at a small number of shows during the early-to-mid 1990s, including the 1993 Street Machine Show.
A collection of period photographs, videos and memorabilia accompanies the car, including photographs from the Street Machine Show featuring Miss Street Machine.
Following this, it was placed into the garage where it has remained hidden ever since

This is a one-family, one-owner-from-new Walkinshaw that has remained remarkably preserved for more than three decades — a genuine survivor with an exceptional story and provenance.
