1985 ALFA ROMEO ALFETTA GTV-6 COUPE – MANUAL

The Alfa Romeo Alfetta (Type 116) is a front-engine, five-passenger saloon and fastback coupé manufactured and marketed by Italian automaker Alfa Romeo from 1972 to 1987 with a total over 400,000 units produced during its production run.

Late in 1980 the GTV 6 2.5, a version of the GTV with the SOHC 2.5 L V6 engine from the Alfa Romeo Alfa 6 luxury saloon, was released.

As a result, the hood received a bulge to clear the top of the intake and became its most pronounced feature. With Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection instead of the six downdraught Dell’Orto carburettors in the early Alfa 6 application, the V6 was much easier to start and retained its state of tune much better.

The fuel injected engine was also able to meet the strict emissions standards introduced in Switzerland (shared with Sweden) for 1983.

The V6 received rave reviews from the motoring press

We hold the original handbook and service book, however there is only one service recorded in the book. We also hold a large folder of paperwork tracing the car’s history through NSW, Victorian and the current SA owner.

Now under South Australian ownership, it has been attended to by Adelaide’s Classic Alfa specialists, Eurosport Automotive of Kent Town.

Powered by a 2.5 Litre fuel injected V6 engine, it produced when new 116Kw and 206Nm of power and torque, delivered to the rear wheels via a 5 speed manual gearbox. Performance figures at the time of release suggest 0-100kph in 9.0 secs and a top speed near 210kph.

The current owner’s words will help with it’s history and current condition:-

A Beautifully maintained 1985 GTV6 with all the hard work complete. Originally delivered to Sydney in late 1985, the GTV6 made it to Melbourne where it was owned by a fastidious Alfa Romeo lover and maintained by Maranello Pursang Motors, specialists in Alfa Romeo, where the car had extensive work done to it including 2nd Gear Gearbox Syncro’s.

I bought the car a few years ago and brought it to Adelaide, where it has been maintained by Eurosport Automotive, and undergone a full upper engine rebuild, including new camshafts and electronic ignition system and re-conditioned air flow meter. Recent auto-electrical work has been completed, including and air-conditioner re-gas and service.

The car is rust free with an earlier professional re-spray in which rust was cut out and new steel welded in, and now presents extremely well.

Some aftermarket extras including Koni Yellow Shock Absorbers, central locking and alloy wheels and tyres, which were typical mods in the 80’s, including a Zender rear spoiler. ”

An ideal classic Alfa Romeo with performance and room for the family to enjoy.

Eligible for Historic registration in most jurisdictions, this equates to minimal on road costs.
