1982 CHEVROLET CORVETTE C3 COLLECTORS EDITION TARGA – AUTO – 26,732 MILES SHOWING
The 1982 Collector Edition was the first Corvette with a hatchback rear window, foreshadowing the C4 Corvette. A special colour scheme was used inside and out and Collector Edition badges were featured. The special, exclusive aluminium wheels were designed to look like the optional bolt-on wheels of the 1967 model.
The Collector Edition had a “0” in the sixth digit of the VIN rather than the “8” found on standard Corvettes. This was the first Corvette to sell for more than $20,000, with a base price of $22,537.59. The Collector Edition had unlimited availability and 6,759 were produced out of a 1982 total production of 25,407.
Presenting in a special Collectors Edition Frost Beige, it features a unique matching Silver Beige Metallic leather interior trim.
We hold a Vehicle Import Approval certificate dated July 2011. We also hold the owner’s manual and large file of documents relating to the car and a workshop manual and Assembly Manual.
Powered by a 5.7 Litre V8 engine, it produced when released 149Kw and 386Nm of power and torque, delivered to the rear wheels via a 4 speed automatic transmission. Performance figures suggest 0-100kph in 8.5 secs and a top speed near 215kph.
The current owner’s words follow to explain the car’s existence in Adelaide.
“I am the only owner of this car in Australia, I imported it myself, having purchased it 11 years ago from the “CHEVY STORE” in Portland Oregon USA.
The car was in there on consignment from a custom home builder in Portland who had a collection of about 7 or 8 Corvettes
which he kept in a climate controlled garage at his home, and was selling his cars after retiring…
There was nothing to be done to the car on arrival in Australia except to change the seatbelts and wiring for the turn indicators to meet Australian standards [in the USA the front and side indicators flash alternately, but in Aust they must flash together ]
The car has never been driven in the wet [ by the previous owner, or myself ] and is completely rust free.
This is a factory original, 1982 “Collector Edition” one of only approx. 6700 built and UNRESTORED car- it has never had an accident or been painted.
Everything is original with only 26,700 Miles on it.
The only things that have been done to the car are a new set of fan/ alternator belts, brake callipers honed, stainless steel sleeved and new pads and brake pistons.
Air cond. re-gas in Feb 2022 and new tyres and wheel aligned in March ’22.
I had both my mechanic, and the tyre fitters say it is the best example of an original Corvette they’ve seen.”
