This rather rare model Volvo has been in the one family since new.
We hold the original books and some of the owner’s own service records over the years.
Powered by 2.3 Litre fuel injected 4 cylinder engine, it produced 102.9Kw and 192Nm of power and torque, delivered to the rear wheels via a 4 speed manual gearbox together with overdrive on forth gear, making it a five ratio transmission. Performance figures advertised at the time of release suggest 0-100kph in 10.8 secs and top speed near 185kph.
Interesting advertising at the time also stated ” The Volvo 242GT – If it had wings it’d fly” That statement maybe debatable!
With an uprated engine from the first released 2.1 Litre engine and now featuring ventilated discs at the front and solid discs at the rear together with upgraded sport suspension featuring stiffer springs, gas-filled shocks, and front/rear anti-roll bars. With these modifications it certainly was more sporty that it’s well known 4 door brother.
This vehicle has been Historically registered in South Australia and would be eligible for similar schemes in other jurisdictions, which equates to minimal on road costs.
