Presenting here in beautiful Burgundy paintwork with matching red fabric trim, this is an award winning example of the Thunderbird from the late 70's.

It is in original and unrestored condition, basically unmolested.

Powered by a 5.8 Litre (351ci) Windsor V8 engine, it produced when new 100.5Kw and 388Nm of power and torque, delivered to the rear wheels via a 3 speed automatic transmission. Performance was claimed at 0-100kph in 16.6 secs and a top speed near 165kph.

Imported from the USA in 2014, the present proud owner has supplied the following information:-

"The Thunderbird was a gift for the original owner. She sadly passed away just after delivery and the car was placed in a private collection, where it remained for 35 years. The collection was sold off in 2014 and the Thunderbird had only 7600 miles recorded when I bought it. All required Australian modifications were done before registration.

It came complete with all the original sales brochures, purchase agreements and a multitude of items that complete the provenance of the car….

*Dealer binder with all Fords for 1979 listed
*Letters from the owner to Ford
*All options that are included on this vehicle…which is everything except a CB radio unit
*Brochures from Ziebart rust proofing and paint glazing completed in 1979
(Ziebart contacted in 2020 for spare plugs where the inhibitor was sprayed and used the cars photos in their dealerships around the world)
*A umatic tape used to promote the new Pinto, Thunderbird, LTD & Granada
*Original publications on new Fords, an original vehicle handbook and a book on “car buying made easier”
*An 8 track adapter for using those new cassette tapes..(dated 1980 from K-Mart for $US29.97)
*Original keys(2 sets) and dealer keyring
*A set of uncut, wood embossed keys
*Glass T-tops which was a dealer option when ordered, where the car is then sent out for fitting
*two alligator cases of 8 track cassettes (approx. 30)
*Inertia belts front & rear
*Door key hole illumination
*Special lock on spare tyre

The Thunderbird is listed with the International Thunderbird registry as the only 1979 Heritage in Australia.

And it did win the most original vehicle at the Birdwood Rock n Roll Rendezvous in 2018...out of some 1900 other vehicles."
