1975 VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE 1600 L SEDAN

The Volkswagen Beetle, officially the Volkswagen Type 1, informally known in German as der Käfer (meaning “beetle”), in parts of the English-speaking world the Bug and known by many other nicknames in other languages, is a two-door, rear-engine economy car, intended for five occupants (later, Beetles were restricted to four people in some countries), that was manufactured and marketed by German automaker Volkswagen (VW) from 1938 until 2003.

This Australian delivered and complied example presents quite well and in fairly original condition.

Coming with no books, we are unable to tell of it’s exact origins. However the old SA plate UUH565 suggests it has spent much of it’s life in SA.

Presenting in a Wattle Yellow with brown vinyl interior trim.

Powered by a 1.6 Litre 4 cylinder engine, it produced when new 37Kw and 106Nm of power and torque, delivered to the rear wheels via a 4 speed manual gearbox. Performance in the early 70’s for VW Beetles wasn’t their biggest selling point, however economy and reliability certainly featured well. This car is however capable of breaking today’s speed limits by a small degree.

An ideal classic car for an enthusiast who is willing to fettle it and enjoy improving it as well as enjoy the classic experience of driving and owning an early Beetle.

Eligible for Historic registration in most jurisdictions, this equates to minimal on road costs.
