1975 JAGUAR XJ6C 4.2 COUPE – MANUAL

Presenting in British Racing Green with Jade interior trim.

A matching numbers car.

Delivered new by University Motors of Hanwell London and based on an order placed by M. W. Marshall & Co of Cannon Street London dated the 4th of December 1975. We hold copies of both the order and the University Motors invoice relating to this sale.

Described by Classic and Sportscar Magazine of February 1990 as ” The Jaguar XJ6 was launched on September 26, 1968. It must have been the proudest day in the history of the British motor industry for it is doubtful that ever again one single automobile will set so many world standards in refinement as the XJ did….the XJ6 was heralded as the world’s finest automobile, irrespective of price”

Launched at the 1973 Frankfurt Motor Show, the XJC was a two-door derivative of the new Series II short-wheelbase XJ saloon which added new distinction to what is arguably one of the most elegant post war Jaguar ranges. It’s ‘disappearing B-pillars gave the XJC a particularly graceful profile when the windows were wound down, while the standard vinyl roof finish added an extra touch of sportiness.

A Webasto style sun roof is also fitted giving this coupe when open, almost the feel of a convertible.

Only 6541 XJ6C’s were built and the manual version with overdrive is much rarer again.

This beautiful example spent some years in the British Heritage Museum before being imported to Melbourne in July 1994.

We hold an an amazing file on this vehicle covering the years spent in the UK, years spent in Australia since1994 and amongst all of these records, paperwork relating to it’s importation. Australian Government Import approval is held dated the 26th of July 1994 and # 17666/1.

Powered by a 4.2 Litre 6 cylinder engine, it produced 126.5Kw and 313Nm of power and torque, delivered to the rear wheels via a 4 speed manual gearbox + overdrive, so effectively a 5 speed box. Performance figures at the time of release suggested 0-100kph in 10.0 secs and a top speed near 200kph.

This is a very classy and rare Classic Jaguar that would satisfy the most fastidious owner. It has an amazing paper history to support it and would be a perfect car for classic car events and cruises or just a cruise to your favourite destination on a sunny Sunday.

Eligible for Historic registration in most jurisdictions, this equates to minimal on road costs.
