1972 TRIUMPH TR6 ROADSTER – 39114 MILES ON THE CLOCK
This example presents well in bright red with black trim.
Imported into Australia from the USA, this is a twin carburettor version.
The frame, engine, running gear, body tub and doors were similar to the Michelotti-styled TR5 (TR250 in the US). The front and rear of the car was restyled by Karmann of Germany, though one source claims the new squared-off Kamm tail design was from an unrelated Michelotti prototype.
A conversion some years ago from LHD to RHD has been completed, making it a perfect car for our Australian roads.
Powered by a 2.5 Litre 6 cylinder engine, it produced when new around 128bhp (95Kw) and delivered it to the rear wheels via a four speed manual gearbox. Performance for the 150bhp fuel injected TR6’s was quoted at 0-100kph in 8.5 secs and a top speed of 190kph. Even though there is a slight power difference, most people in the know suggest the carburettor version is very close in performance figures.
Some photos and paperwork is held attesting to the work that has been completed during conversion and updating.
A very nice example and because of it’s age, currently Historically registered in SA and most likely eligible for similar schemes interstate. Historic registration makes on road costs minimal.
