1971 TRIUMPH TR6 ROADSTER – MANUAL – ADELAIDE DELIVERY

Presenting here in Damson Red with Black interior trim.

Delivered new by Dave Potter Motors Pty Ltd of Brighton Road, Glenelg, a bay side suburb of Adelaide.

We hold the original hand book and service book and the car still wears the SA plates RTV 989 that it was delivered new with on the 30th of November 1971.

This car is an amazing find and a huge credit to it’s current and past owners.

Powered by a 2.5 Litre fuel injected 6 cylinder engine, it produced when new (150bhp/118.5Kw) and 215Nm of power and torque, delivered to the rear wheels via a 4 speed manual gearbox together with o/drive on 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear, so effectively a 7 ratio gearbox. Performance figures suggest 0-100kph in 8.3 secs and a top speed near 195kph.

The present owner has provided the following information on this amazing example:-

” This Triumph TR6 was purchased new by the original owner from Dave Potter Motors, Brighton,SA. In 1985 the owner moved to Tasmania and the vehicle was put in storage there until 2001 when it was re-commissioned and used sparingly. In 2009 ownership passed to the original owner’s son from whom I purchased it in January 2012.

The initial negotiation for the purchase of the vehicle was conducted over the internet and via email. Terms of purchase were agreed but subject to my inspecting the vehicle in Tasmania. I flew to Launceston and prior to finalising the purchase, I had the vehicle inspected on a hoist by a specialist restoration company in Launceston. The detailed inspection verified the originality of the vehicle, its low mileage and no evidence of rust or previous accident damage. The odometer reading at the time of purchase was 51,654 miles.

The vehicle was driven back to Adelaide on a typical January summer’s day. I was pleased to observe that the oil pressure remained constant as did the water temperature.

The vehicle is the PI (fuel injected) model with overdrive on 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears. The hood is in good original condition, as are the full and half tonneau covers. The interior is all original. It is a matching numbers vehicle and since being bought back to South Australia carries the original registration number. The body colour is Damson and interior is black.

During my period of ownership, the vehicle has won a number of Triumph Sports Owners Association Club awards for “Pride of Ownership” in 2014,2017, 2019 & 2022.

In 2022 the vehicle underwent an extensive service by SA’s leading Triumph specialist (Classic and Sportscar Boutique of Norwood) so anything that needed attention was sorted. The vehicle has only travelled a further 1990 miles since that service. Current odometer reading is 64,676 miles.”

It is highly rare to find a classic sportscar from this era with all the credentials this one has, original books, paper work, purchase invoice and original registration plates. And a car only owned by two cars loving fastidious families.

Together with a soft top, the car comes with both full and quarter tonneau covers to give you 3 different driving styles, depending the weather and whether or not you have company whilst driving.

The original plates are available with this car if sold in South Australia.

Currently on South Australian Historic registration, this is non transferable, however it would be eligible for similar schemes in other jurisdictions, equating to minimal on road costs.

This car is available to view on our state of the art showroom floor in Adelaide.

We can arranger transport door to door Australia wide, or like the current owner owner, you might wish to drive it home.
