1970 MORRIS MINI K 1100 SEDAN - 39,175 MILES SHOWING
This amazing little time capsule takes you back to the 1970's where Mini's were everywhere and all cars were smaller and simple to understand.
This car is has only had three owners and each one has done their best to preserve the originality.
Delivered new by Adelaide Motors BMC of 77 Pirie Street Adelaide on the 21st of January 1970, it comes with a lot of original material including the New Mini K brochure from March 1969, the original handbook showing original owner's details and the fact that is a matching numbers car and still has it's original number plate.
This car has won awards in shows and events for it's timeless originality. The seat belt clips just behind the seats on each side are still there, a common thing missing on old Minis.
Powered by the new at the time 1098cc (1100) engine, it boasted a 25% increase in power and jumped (K for Kangaroo) to a massive 50bhp (37.2Kw) and delivered that power to the front wheels via a 4 speed manual gearbox. Second generation Mini's enjoyed wind up windows with quarter windows and this Mini K enjoyed a speedo cluster like the Cooper S and a Cooper style slick gear lever.
Some parts are included with the car and also a period Gregory's Street Guide which shows how Adelaide looked way back then.
If you love Mini's like I do, (the author of these words bought his first Cooper S from the same dealership in 1966, ) then you will love this Mini too.
Eminently eligible for Historic registration, that makes on road costs about as small as the car is. :)
