11969 HOLDEN MONARO HT GTS 253 COUPE – MANUAL – 23,106 MILES SHOWING
A very nice example presenting in Kashmir White with Turquoise Mist interior trim.
We hold what looks like an original owners manual, there are also parts and workshop manuals and a copy of Modern Motor magazine from August 1969, with a feature article on the new HT Monaro GTS.
Powered by a 4.2 Litre (253ci) V8 engine, it produced when new 138Kw and 355Nm of power and torque, delivered to the rear wheels via a 4 speed manual gearbox. Performance claimed suggests 0-100kph in 9.5 secs and a top speed near 185kph.
A V8 manual early Monaro is now highly sought after and collectible, especially when in near original condition.
The current SA owner has provided the following words about his car:-
“Purchased 2002 Kempsey N.S.W.
Car was 33 years old, they owned for 26 years ( the then owner advised that the odometer was on it’s second time around therefore approximately 119,000 miles, ) , the car was a very rust free body mostly original but required complete restoration
I put in storage for 10 years.
Started complete bare metal rotisserie restoration 2012
Car is painted in 2 pack enamel to simulate the factory finish so not heavily cut after painting, finish is off the gun and hand polished
All underbody, engine bay and boot is also in 2 pack enamel.
Interior is all new by Dash original the vinyl had to be special ordered from the USA to the exact original specification, the same vinyl is
used on other GM cars in America.
Body is fish oiled and cavity waxed to prevent corrosion and preserve the car for another 50 years
All new rubbers, bushes, springs, shock absorbers, brakes, etc
Body also covered internally with premium dynamat to suppress noise and create a more comfortable car to ride in.
Restoration completed 2015
Car was restored to use not to show but took to the 2015 S.A. Monaro state titles and won 2 trophies best original HT and Major
sponsors favourite car of the show ! both were extremely unexpected.
Car is Kashmir White with Turquoise Mist interior trim ( very rare colour ) not ever seen another in S.A. in 20 + years.
Restored to factory original except for 2 items that were available as dealer fitted options at the time of sale.
Aunger Hustler alloy wheels, these came with the car and may have been fitted by the dealer
Mark 1V Air conditioning ( removed from a HT Brougham )
