According to the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, it was built on the 30th of August 1968 and then dispatched aboard the vessel “Port Nicholson” to Leyland-Albion of Sydney (Triumph agents at the time) on the 9th of October 1968.

Before the current South Australian ownership which began around 2017, the previous Queensland owner spent many thousands of dollars on this vehicle, just about everything has been replaced over the past few years.
The TR5 is by far the most desirable of all the TR’s, having the fabulous Michelotti designed body of the TR4 and TR4A, enjoying the IRS rear suspension of the TR4A and the fuel injected 2.5 Litre 6 cylinder engine of the TR6.
Powered by that 2.5 Litre fuel injected 6 cylinder engine, it produced 112Kw and 223Nm of power and torque, delivered to the rear wheels via a 4 speed manual gearbox + o/drive on 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear, so effectively a 7 ratio gearbox. Performance figures suggest 0-100kph in 8.8 secs and a top speed near 200kph.
In every way, this beautiful example exudes the best of a classic English sportscar, top up or down, it would please the most discerning driver.
