1967 VOLKSWAGEN KOMBI TRANSPORTER MICROBUS

This lovely RHD example was assembled in Uitenhage near Port Elizabeth, South Africa in 1967. It came to Australia many years ago with most of the time spent in South Australia.

Being an early split front windowed Kombi, it is the model everyone remembers and loves. In the 60’s, these vehicles were quite common and often seen at surf beaches full of surf lovers and boards on top. Room for eight or more surfers in those days, with an Esky in the back, you could go anywhere and enjoy.

Powered by a 1.5 Litre horizontally opposed 4 cylinder air cooled engine, it drives the rear wheels via a floor mounted 4 speed manual gear shifter. The front windows hinge open so giving you the 60’s way of air conditioning the surfers inside.

Everything about this model is very cute and helps remind us of how much fun simple motoring used to be.

Eligible for Historic or Club registration in most states, thus making on road costs minimal.

Come and visit our showroom in Adelaide to witness this piece of motoring history. Definitely a baby boomers bus!
