Built in May 1967, CKD at the BMC factory at Zetland just south of Sydney.
We hold a large file of paperwork and receipts, mainly relating to it’s current South Australian ownership, however there is evidence that the car has been in both WA and NSW in the past.
The Cooper S was a giant killer in it’s day, firstly becoming famous for winning the 1964 Monte Carlo Rally under the stewardship of Paddy Hopkirk and Henry Liddon, winning in front of much more powerful cars.
The Australian version of this car in 1966, the Morris Cooper S achieved similar success at the 1966 Bathurst Gallagher
500, beating much bigger and more powerful cars, taking the first 3 places!
Powered by a 1275cc 4 cylinder east west engine, it produced when new 56Kw (75bhp) and 107Nm of power and torque, delivered to the front wheels via a 4 speed manual gearbox. Performance figures suggest 0-100kph in 10.4 secs and a top speed near 160kph.
