1967 MERCEDES BENZ 250SL - AUTO CALIFORNIA COUPE - AUSTRALIAN DELIVERED
This example presents in Silver with blue interior trim.
The 250 SL was introduced at the 1967 Geneva Motor Show. Production had already commenced in December 1966 and ended in January 1968. The short one-year production run makes the 250 SL the rarest of the W 113 series cars. The 250 SL retained the stiffer suspension and sportier feel of the early SLs, but provided improved agility with a new engine and rear disc brakes.
Currently 1009 miles on the clock.
Powered by a 2.5Lt 6 cylinder engine, it produced when new 110Kw and 235Nm of power and torque, delivered via a 4 speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels. The California Coupe was an option which included a fold down rear bench seat in the place of where the soft top would sit when folded. So it came with a removable hard top, but no soft top. This means more room for your luggage, but it is still strictly a two seater.
Performance was adequate at 0-100kph in 10.6 secs and a top speed near 190kph, this roadster was all about the glamour of classic driving than sheer speed. The Pagoda roof W113 series is highly sought after because of its current rarity and good looks, so this one wont last long. Eligible for Historic or Club registration which enables you to enjoy the car with greatly reduced on road costs.
