This beautiful car has been in the one Adelaide ownership for over 25 years and was restored to it's current condition by well known South Australian restorer & identity of Jaguars, Chris Waldock. Documents relating to the restoration are available.
Released to the world in 1961, the E Type Jaguar in both FHC and DHC forms, is revered by motoring enthusiasts around the world, none more famous than the late Enzo Ferrari who is reported to have said when he saw the car, it is the most beautiful car in the world.
This example presents in metallic grey with complimentary red leather interior trim and looks just as beautiful today as it would have in 1967.
The series 1.5 4.2 E Types featured a new lowered floor to allow the driver more room for their feet while manipulating the pedals. The earlier Series 1 cars or "flat floor" models gave some driver's difficulties, which bought about the change.
Powered by the superb 4.2 Litre XK 6 cylinder engine, it produced when new 183.4Kw and 383.7Nm of power and torque, delivered to the rear wheels via a 4 speed manual gearbox. Performance was legendary in the 60's at 0-100kph in 6.9 secs and a top speed of just over 150mph (241kph) and those figures today, nearly 55 years later, are still highly respectable.
