Delivered new in right hand drive, this Fixed Head Coupe is for many reasons, a very desirable model. As the E-Type was developed over the years, the 4.2 litre double overhead camshaft engine was introduced delivering more usable torque and a smoother delivery of power and a fully synchromesh gearbox replaced the earlier Moss box (no synchro on low gear). The late Series One car benefited from these improvements however it retained the original E-Type look with the covered headlight nacelles and the original indicator lights above the front and rear bumpers. The series 1.5 didn’t have the streamlined headlight covers and the series 2 that followed had larger indicator lights below the bumpers. So a late Series One has been described as the most drivable version of the earlier cars with the pure original external look. The Series One is also the most valuable.

This example is in good condition with regular use as a driving car by its two most recent two owners who are members of the Jaguar Drivers Club of South Australia (2000 to 2018).
The Jaguar Daimler heritage certificate confirms this Series One was built on 13th June 1966 in silver grey with black interior and delivered new to Gilman Motors of Hong Kong. The engine block is a matching number. The head is a worked Series 3 XJ unit featuring larger valves which provides impressive performance whilst retaining the look of the original.

The car features some nice upgrades which improve both performance and safety. However, the included original parts package will allow a new owner to easily return the car to factory specification if desired.

Original E-Type Lucas distributor and Champion leads – currently fitted with a 1-2-3 electronic distributor
Original E-Type Dunlop front brake calipers – currently fitted with Wilwood modern brakes
Original E-Type front brake dust covers – not used with modern brakes
Original E-Type starter motor – currently fitted with a modern high torque starter motor
Original E-Type exhaust manifold – currently fitted with performance exhaust extractors
