1965 HOLDEN HD SPECIAL X2 SEDAN - MANUAL - 7653 MILES SHOWING
A very tidy example of the HD X2 Special sedan, presenting in Green with a white roof and green interior trim.
Powered by a 2.9Lt 6 cylinder engine, it produced when new 105Kw and 241Nm of power and torque, delivered to the rear wheels via that “3 on the tree” manual shift gearbox. Performance claimed at the time of release was 0-100kph in 10.9 secs and a top speed just in excess of 160kph.
History tells us the following:-
Three versions of the inline six cylinder Holden Red motor were available The 100 bhp 149 cu in (2.4 L) six was standard in all models except the Premiers and a 115 bhp 179 cu in (2.9 L) six was standard on Premiers and optional on all other models. A 140 bhp (105Kw) "X2" version of the "179" was also available as an option on all models. The "X2" featured twin carburettors, a high-lift camshaft, new inlet and exhaust manifolds and a low-restriction exhaust system. It also included a special instrument cluster and external "X2" badges.
A three speed manual transmission was standard on all models with a two speed "Powerglide" automatic gearbox available as an option.
This model Holden followed on from the very successful EH model and the particular favourite in that EH line up was the 179 manual. So the X2 version in manual was really the replacement for that EH 179 manual.
This example has had a restoration and presents very well in the original style, for its 56 years of age and would sit very well in a collection.
