1963 JAGUAR E TYPE SERIES 1 (DHC) 3.8 ROADSTER
When Enzo Ferrari first saw the Jaguar E Type, he is believed to have said it’s the most beautiful car in the world. We have no absolute proof of that statement, however this bright red Series 1, 3.8Lt roadster or drop head coupe as they are referred to in the UK, is a very handsome car in any man’s language and when you see it you will agree.
Powered by the famous Jaguar XK 3.8 Litre twin cam engine, it produced when new 198Kw and 325Nm of power and torque, delivered via a four speed manual gearbox. Outstanding figures of 0-100kph in 6.5 secs and a top near 240kph, the figures were outstanding in 1963 and just as amazing today.
Production date according to the Heritage Certificate is the 29th of November 1963 and delivered new by Jaguar Cars, New York on the 9th of December 1963. Can you imagine getting this for Christmas in 1963!
This is a matching numbers car, however it has been converted to RHD and been given a new exterior and interior colour scheme.
Bought to Australia some years ago, it has been in one ownership in Adelaide for many years and is being sold because of the owner’s inability to continue driving.
