1958 MGA 1500 ROADSTER – MANUAL – 13,600 MILES SHOWING
This example presents in a shade of British racing Green with Tan coloured interior trim.
With a couple of obvious external features that are none 1500, this car has been highly modified and now quite capable of exceeding the performance even of an original twin cam MGA. The external features that have been changed area 1600 Mk2 grille and individual rear indicator lights. Exact current performance figures are not available.
The car now features a fully rebuilt MGB 1840cc 3 bearing crank engine fitted with a new exhaust extractor and stainless pipe system and all mated to a Toyota Supra 5 speed manual gearbox. The engine also features a new clutch assembly, slave cylinder and radiator.
Also included in this rebuild is new front and rear suspension which includes leaf springs and shockers from the UK.
4 new splined hubs and bearings have been fitted together with a 1600 Mk1 front disc brake assembly. The fuel tank is new and mated with an electronic fuel pump.
The car sports 4 new 72 spoke chrome wire wheels that are 15″ x 5.5″
Finally to finish off the exterior appearance it wears a new hood and tonneau cover to complete a very attractive package, not quite standard, but period correct in all aspects.
This car easily out performs most MGA’s and also stops well. The current owner has reluctantly decided to sell the car after all the work done, so it would appeal to someone contemplating a restoration and allowing them to avoid all the current costs and time involved.
Currently on Historic registration in South Australia, this is non transferable, however would most likely be eligible for similar schemes in other jurisdictions, equating to minimal on road costs.
