1956 MGA 1500 ROADSTER – 914 MILES ON THE CLOCK (1,462KMS)

This example was delivered new into the USA as a LHD car, originally Glacier Blue with Grey trim, last registered in Texas in 1978. It was imported to Australia around the year 2000 and after a couple of ownership changes, it’s restoration and conversion to RHD was completed to its present condition.

The car started its current journey in 2003 in a partially dismantled condition, a matching numbers car. A Heritage Certificate is currently held confirming the above details and its birth date, 13th of November 1956.

Two owners began the process and now you see a very tidy and correct example which is very pleasing to the eye.

MGs came out of the Abingdon Factory in the UK ready for all markets, so everything for pedal and steering column change was built into the cars at the factory, so if you wanted to convert them, a new steering rack and dash was required, the pedals and steering column were just swapped from side to side.

We have photos of some of the restoration work, the car itself tells the rest of the story, a very good example now in British Racing Green with black trim. A relatively new hood adorns the car and a tonneau cover is also part of the package.

Originally, the car came with slotted steel wheels and hubcaps(standard equipment for an MG), it was converted to Dayton Chrome wire wheels at the time of the restoration. The original wheels and hubs are available if required.

Powered by a 1.5 Litre 4 cylinder engine, it produced when new 50Kw and 104Nm of power and torque, driving through a 4 speed manual gearbox to the rear wheels. Performance was 0-100kph in 15 secs and a top around 152kph, not a fire breather, but a delightful English classic sports car. Eligible for Historic registration which makes on road costs minimal.

This car is just perfect for a classic drive on a sunny day, a picnic in the park, or to show and enjoy at car shows and club events.

Lots of paperwork, photos and spares come with this car, including the number plates if it stays in SA.

A delightful wood rim wheel finishes the whole look.
