1950 MERCURY EIGHT SPORTS SEDAN – AUTO – 61783 MILES SHOWING

Mercury was a division of the Ford Motor Company of the USA and this example is part of the Mercury Eight Series of cars built in coupe, wagon and sedan bodies.

This example presents in Red Metallic paintwork with grey interior. Over 70 years of age, a rare and remarkable offering.

A timeless model shape from the early 50’s which has featured in movies such as “Grease” with the bad guys driving “Hell’s Chariot” , a convertible Mercury.

Powered by a 4.2 Litre (255ci) V8 engine, it is claimed to have produced 81kw of power, delivered to the rear wheels via a 3 speed automatic transmission. Performance was very 50’s with 0-100kph in nearly 20 secs and a top speed near 135kph.

Although called a Sports Sedan, cruising in style was more its mode than a sports car.

This example has had quite a deal of attention over recent years and we hold a considerable paper file on monies spent.
