1964 PORSCHE 356C - LHD
This lovely example of a late Porsche 356 presents very well in Cream (Off White) with black leatherette trim.
We understand from Porsche Cars Australia that this car was delivered new in Brussels, Belgium in 1964. From the various badges which adorn the engine lid, it has been all over Europe and eventually ended up in South Africa. The South African owner was eventually moved to Australia and bought the 356C with him.
The present owner bought the car from the South African owner about 10 years ago and has had it re trimmed inside and completed regular servicing.
Powered by a 1600cc engine, it developed when new 70Kw and 119Nm of power and torque, delivering this to the rear wheels via a 4 speed manual gearbox. Performance figures were quoted at 0-100kph in 12.5 secs and a top near 175kph. Not the Porsche performance that we know today, however, compared to other sports cars of the 60's, very competitive. So competitive, that many 356 Porsches were used successfully for rallies and competition.
